每年，澳门大学堪萨斯分校校友会都会举办颁奖典礼，表彰杰出校友的成就。 The 威尼斯人娱乐城 音乐学院 is honoring Xi Wang, Ph.D. (M.M. ‘03) with its Class of 2022 校友 Achievement Award.
1978年出生于中国，文革刚刚结束，王希学会了凡事不要想当然。 认识到她的音乐天赋，她的父母做出了巨大的经济牺牲，以确保她接受训练。 After completing her bachelor’s in music from the Shanghai 音乐学院 of Music, Xi came to 威尼斯人娱乐城 to study under Chen Yi, Ph.D. and Zhou Long, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor Xi holds a doctoral degree from Cornell University. 她受费城交响乐团、亚特兰大交响乐团和上海爱乐乐团委托创作的作品享誉国际。 除了作曲，他还在美国南卫理公会大学草甸艺术学院任教。
你童年的大部分时间都在听音乐吗？
在我四岁的时候，父亲给我买了一架玩具钢琴作为礼物。 The toy piano cost the equivalent of two U.S. dollars at that time-about half of my mother’s monthly income. When it was delivered to our home on a tricycle, all the neighbors came out to touch the “furniture” they had only seen in newspapers or magazines. My parents spent the next three years working and saving to pay off this “fancy furniture.”
音乐是我父母在我小时候给我的一份美丽而又昂贵的礼物。 我学到了人生的第一课——永远不要想当然。 教育和机会是宝贵的。
教学改变了你与音乐的关系吗？ 你最喜欢的是什么？
教学加深了我与音乐的关系。 这让我重新思考我所学到的音乐。 通过教学的过程，我也在不断地学习新的东西。
What advice do you have for students who’d like to follow in your footsteps?
努力工作，不断挑战自己。 It’s not necessarily a bad thing if you encounter something “unfair.” It will happen and it happens in everyone’s life. 你只需要把它变成你的优势，让它激励你。 把它当作一个让你变得更强大的机会，尽管一开始接受它可能会让你感到非常沮丧。

Besides the academic preparation, it was people’s care and love that has shined through all the years since I started my American adventure at 威尼斯人娱乐城.

作为两个可爱孩子的母亲，同时保持着作曲家和教授的职业生涯。

我家里有大约20株植物，要在工作休息时浇水。 偶尔，我做一些泥塑和绘画。
